Abu Haraz

Maciej Drygas | 2013 | Pologne | 73 minutes | HDCam

Abu Haraz is a village in the desert in North Sudan. For centuries, its native residents have followed the rhythm of nature determined by the flooding of the Nile. Their stern, albeit joyful, world is in danger. The plan to build a gigantic dam means that their village will be flooded and their existence as they know it will end. The protests of Abu Haraz residents have no effect and they become displaced. Yet again, tradition clashing with socio-economic progress produces human dramas.
